Council condemns repeated acts of desecration on Greek Orthodox Monastery

Jerusalem, December 12 , 2012

For Immediate Release:

The Council of Religious Institutions of the Holy Land condemns the latest repeated acts of desecration and graffiti of the Greek Orthodox Monastery in the Valley of the Cross in Jerusalem; and calls on the Israeli police and security organs to allocate the resources necessary to both prevent such attacks and apprehend the perpetrators.  We consider any attack on the sites of one religion to be, in effect, an attack on all religions and a desecration of the Divine Name.

 מועצת מוסדות הדתיים בארץ הקודש מגנה את מעשי החילול והגרפיטי החוזרים ונשנים במנזר האורתודוקסי היווני בעמק המצלבה בירושלים. המועצה קוראת למשטרת ישראל ולכוחות הביטחון להקצות את המשאבים הנדרשים למנוע מעשים כאלו ולעצור את מבצעיהם. אנו רואים כל התקפה על מקום הקדוש לדת אחת כפגיעה, למעשה, בכל הדתות וכחילול השם.

 בשמם של הרבנות הראשית לישראל, המשרד לענייני וואקף ושירותי דת ברשות הפלסטינית, וראשי הכנסיות בארץ הקודש.

يدين مجلس المؤسسات الدينية في الأراضي المقدسة أعمال التدنيس الأخيرة والمتكررة لدير الصليب في القدس. هذا ويدعو المجلس الشرطة الإسرائيلية والسلطات الأمنية المختصة لتخصيص الموارد اللازمة لمنع مثل هذه الأعمال المشينة في المستقبل وتقديم الجناة للعدالة. أننا نعتبر أي اعتداء على أي مكان مقدس كالأعتداء على جميع الأديان وتدنيس لأسم الخالق.
