The Council of Religious Institutions of the Holy Land condemns the burglary in the synagogue and the desecration of Torah scrolls in Mitspeh Jericho, on Thursday 4th April, 2013.
Reverend, Dr and Canon Trond Bakkevig spoke at the UNAOC forum in Vienna. Reverend Trond addressed the role of Religious leaders in making courageous peace efforts worldwide and in the region in particular. Reverend Trond stressed the important role of education in creating a more tolerant society and described the various avenues that CRIHL is active in pursuit of this goal.
The Council of Religious Institutions in the Holy Land met with the US Consul General, Michael Ratney. Convener to the Council, Reverend Trond Bakkevig welcomed the Consul General, presented an overview and thanked him for the US administration’s support to the Council and its religious leaders. The Consul General gave constructive advice and expressed desire for future cooperation in various venues.
Rabbi David Rosen, Council member and Interfaith advisor to the Chief Rabbinate was appointed, among respected others, as a member of the board of directors of the King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue in Vienna (KAICIID). The Inauguration ceremony of the centre took place last week ast the Hofburg Palace in Vienna.
